Other Rock Bands
I am glad a saw Bernie a couple of times in the years before he passed away. The last few years have been awful for losing many of the great keyboard players including Joe Sample, Ray Manzarek and Allen Toussaint. Bernie also played with Talking Heads when I saw them in 1982.
New years show. I've listened to this band since "Will the Wolf Survive" came out in the 80s; and I came to really like the Phish version of "When the Circus Comes to Town."
Great to see Bernie play keyboards again, and especially nice to see him with Kimock in a small place on the Upper West Side. Bernie Williams came out as a guest and played guitar. After the show we bunked into Rich “Goose” Gossage (its kind of hard to miss him), Hall of Fame Yankees star, who one of there in support of Bernie Williams.
I feel quite lucky to have seem him at least once, having missed - to my extreme chagrin - the tour with Elvis for The River in Reverse. What a huge influence on so much of the music played by the various bands covered on this blog. I was totally impressed at what a great showman he was, and he seemed to have a lot more inside him.
Free outdoor concert on the Lake. I remembered seeing Rusted Root play at some of the first Further festivals in the 90s, featuring some big percussion jams.

ALO hadn't gotten to the east coast much, and this was a rare opportunity to see them at a small venue. It was a hot show, and the band literally walked outside onto the street still playing instruments, New-Orleans-style, at the end.
On January 11, Medeski, Martin & Wood started the show in the late afternoon as people still swam in the ocean right next to the beach where the stage stood. Once again, moe. finished up with the later show that evening. Bill Payne of Little Feat sat in with moe. on keyboards for awhile.
