The main man of Jazz Fusion keyboards played with the amazing Jimmy Haslip on bass at this show. They stayed after the show and mingled with people for photos. Jeff and Jimmy each signed my program, below. Jimmy is a monster bass player who was a founder of the Yellowjackets and who played with Crosby and Stills in the seventies. Jimmy plays an unusual five-string bass and I had a chance to chat with him about it after the show. JC Collier succeeded Jimmy in Bruce Hornsby’s live band and sometimes plays a similar 5-string instrument.

A goal or dream for many years became reality when I was finally able to make it to Jamaica for the 14th anniversary of this great event. As denoted in the materials our Feat Fan package the year 2016 included 3 Little Feat shows and multiple moe. and Medeski Martin & Wood performances. I thought the addition of MMW to the lineup made this an especially interesting and appealing line-up to see. I had already seen moe. and Little Feat together in Lake Placid several years earlier.

David Bowie died during this weekend and MMW covered some Bowie material.

We met all of the members of Little Feat, and I even shared some pool time with Bill Payne, a longtime keyboard uber-hero of mine. On the last day, I had a chance to chat with Bill who mentioned his website and upcoming gig in the Hudson valley. I later noticed on his website a piece he wrote about Richard Manual's piano - a piano that was purchased by some of my other all-time heros of music at the same music store in Poughkeepsie where I had recently brought my own Roland piano to be restored - an interesting coincidence.

I took advantage of the day trip to Nine Miles, the childhood home and final resting place of Bob Marley.

When I spoke to Paul Barrere I mentioned that I remember him wearing a Graig Nettles NY Yankees jersey at the Little Feat show I attended in 1978 during one of its most classic tours, at Ithaca College, and he recalled how his brother got those Yankee jerseys.

The whole experience was wonderful, and featured an especially great lineup of music, played each night for members of the excursion staying at the resort (there was no admittance to anyone not staying at the resort) so it was uncrowded and completely relaxed each night. After the shows there was a bonfire and bar-b-q on the beach where members of the bands could hang out and party with the campers.

On the last day we went to the poster signing by Little Feat; a copy of mine signed by all members of the band is here. I took extensive photos of all the bands at the shows and have posted slideshows. Nice videos of the shows were posted online by the Feat team.

On January 11, Medeski, Martin & Wood started the show in the late afternoon as people still swam in the ocean right next to the beach where the stage stood. Once again, moe. finished up with the later show that evening. Bill Payne of Little Feat sat in with moe. on keyboards for awhile.

Madison Square Garden

Back at MSG for Gilmour in fine form as he completed what might be his last US tour . The films in back of the stage having a certain similarity to those I’d seen at MSG before during the 1977 and 1987 Floyd shows there.

The tour was for Rattle that Lock, a fine new album that Gilmour wrote mostly using his wife’s lyrics. Phil Manzanera played a key role in both making the album and on the live tour. There are some interesting music videos and materials in the box set which include a small gathering where Gilmour explains how he recorded the very first sounds on the album on his iphone - an automated train door jingo from a train in France - which served as the inspiration for the first track.

Sat lower center in Section 2B with a really great bunch of nice people, mostly Warehouse fans who sang and danced all night in Row 12. My 50th show and among my all time favorites. Dave was a total monster on this night! He sang, danced, joked, and just created a wonderful energy. He introduced the new song "Samurai Cop" as a song he wrote because he like babies. Coincidentally for me, on the next day I would be driving home for the expected birth of a little one. But on this night I had to stay to the very end, I loved every second of this show.
